Here is a guide to setting up various common email software packages including Netscape, Eudora and Outlook Express.

Step 1: Open Outlook Express by double-clicking the icon on your desk-top or from the Start menu.

Step 2: From the menu at the top select Tools and then Accounts.

Step 3: This will bring up an Internet Accounts box. Click Add and then from the resulting pop-up menu select Mail.

Step 4: The next box will ask you for a Display Name . When an email you've sent arrives at it's destination, whatever you type in this box displays to the mail recipient who the e-mail's from. In this box you would normally type your name or the name of your company. After doing this click the Next button.

Step 5: Next you will be asked for your Internet Email Address . This is where you supply the email address that you obtained when requesting a POP3 email account - i.e. yourname@yourdomain.co.uk. After doing this click Next.

Step 6: Email Server Names - After ensuring that you have POP3 selected as your incoming mail server you will need to supply the Incoming and Outgoing mail server addresses. In the POP3 box (making sure you use ONLY lower case!) you should put pop.yourdomain.co.uk and in the SMTP box you should enter smtp.yourdomain.co.uk After doing this click Next.

Step 7: Internet Mail Logon - This is where you supply the information you received along with confirmation of your email account. Your Account Name will normally be the User Name provided for accessing your webspace. After typing in your email account name - having been careful not to have used any capital letters - you then supply your password where prompted. If you leave the 'tick' in the Remember password box you won't be prompted for a password each time you want to retrieve your email. However this would also enable other users of your computer to access your e-mail. Untick this box if security is an issue. Making sure Log on using Secure Password Authentication is NOT selected, click Next.
